This photo is of a flooded street in an unidentified area of North America. A low sandbag dike has been constructed, but the water is on both sides of the dike. The homes and properties on both sides of the street are not flooded. The description on the back of the photo says, " A radio appeal was made for men to help with sandbagging, Since many Mennonites live in the flooded area, the men responded to the appeal direct without MDS organizing in this area. Too, a number of Mennonite graves were affected."

A woman, carrying a pail on her shoulder, is standing in front of the counter. The description on the back says, " Gerald Short, Archbold, Ohio, a Paxman in Mexico, works with storekeepers in small villages. He has set up a pig fattening project behind each store. The storekeepers take care of the pigs and thus demonstrate to their customers how to produce a fat pig in a short time."
This photo is of four people. Gilbert Klopfenstein and an African male are holding a sack so it is open and two young boys are looking into it. The photo is taken indoors. Gilbert, a French Mennonite missionary, was involved in a grain sale program in a village near Fort Lamy, Chad.
This photo is of five men visiting the grave of Jakob Zhidkov in Russia. The grave has a tall headstone and is surrounded by a white fence. The description on the back says, "l. to r. Michael Zhidkov, Victor Krieger, Frank C. Peters, Ilya Orlov, and Adolfs Klaupiks. At the grave of his parents, Michael Zhidkov and his friends pause for a moment to reflect on the leadership which his father, Jakob Zhidkov, had given the Baptist Church in Russia for many years. When he died in 1966, William Snyder, Adolfs Klaupiks, Frank Peters, and David Neufeld attended his funeral".

This photo is of the Colomoncagua refugee camp in Honduras. In this camp, gardens are flourishing in a community where life for its 7,000 inhabitants is returning to normal. This thriving camp is scheduled to be vacated in June (1983) and the refugees relocated in northern Honduras. The photo shows a concentration of tent-like dwellings.

This photo is of a mother with a young child on her lap in a medical clinic run by nurses. The description on the back says, "The hospital provides a natural setting for discussing family planning. Many women come to the clinic for their children's health. In conversation with the nurse, it becomes clear that the mothers might be open to information about family planning. Thus begins a discussion which clears up misconceptions and doubts."
