Grating a spice into the bowl

This is a photo of a woman squatting on the ground behind a large bowl, grating a spice into the bowl. Behind her are cabinet-type solar dryers used to dry ginger, turmeric, coriander and red chili peppers. These spices, an essential part of Bengali cooking, are sold in Bangladesh and to alternative trading organizations in Europe.

This is a photo of dedication of children at the Darnitsa (Baptist) Church in Kiev in 1981. Holding infants are A. Bichkov, V. Kunets, M. Melnik and J. Dukhonchenko. Bichkov and Dukhonchenko visited in Mennonite communities in Pennsylvania in early November.
