Historical Monograph Files

This subseries documents an unfinished project to revise the last published history of the Mennonite Publishing House, God Uses Ink by John A. Hostetler (1958). Retiree Ellrose Zook took on the project in 1980, but health problems prevented him from completing it. Other Publishing House employees made contributions to finishing Zook's work, but the project was ultimately abandoned. Materials include Zook's unfinished manuscript, documents and notes collected by Zook, sound recordings of interviews conducted by Zook, and correspondence pertaining to Zook's project.

United States

Correspondence and collected materials pertaining to Friesen's life and work after his retirement from missionary service.

Radio-German

This sub-series of the Theme Sermons series includes German sermons that Neufeld gave over the radio between 1994 and 2019 for Faith and Life Communications’ Frohe Botschaft radio program on CFAM. Unlike the similar Radio-English sub-series, there is no obvious focus on specific books of the Bible in Neufeld’s German radio preaching.

Conversion

This sub-series in the Theme Sermons series is a collection of sermons that Neufeld gave on the topics of conversion and evangelism in the Mennonite church, beginning during the time he was the leading minister of First Mennonite Church and continuing into the years he worked as President and Associate Professor at CMBC. Some sermons are noted to have been preached to the FMC congregation, but not all of them. Additionally, this series contains two papers on conversion that Neufeld presented at a 1996 New Life Assembly conference in Pittsburgh.

Decalogue

This sub-series within the Theme Sermons series contains material related to sermons that Neufeld wrote on the subject of the Ten Commandments and their relevance to contemporary life and the church. Along with copies of his sermons, these files contain notes on, and copies of, outside sources that Neufeld drew on to make his points. The dating of these files is largely based on the articles that Neufeld used as research, since most of his sermons and notes are undated. Files are in both English and German.
