This fonds contains the memoirs that Heinrich J. Friesen wrote between 1974 and 1979. The first part covers life in Russia, childhood memories, political awareness surrounding the 1917 Russian Revolution, marriage and emigration from Russia to Canada. In the second part, Friesen recounts his memories of life in Canada. This part is organized by chronologically by year (and by month toward the end of the manuscript). There are also about ten pages of background and family genealogical data in a separate folder.

This fonds consists primarily of correspondence, as well as minutes and other papers relating to various committees and activities. The correspondence concerns: family matters; the Canadian Mennonite Board of Colonization; the Provincial Mennonite Relief Committee; the Conference of Mennonites in Canada, both generally and the Board of Christian Service in particular; the General Conference Mennonite Church, especially the Board of Missions; and letters from refugees in Europe requesting relief aid. There are also various collected materials such as tracts and peace literature.

This fonds consists of the journals which record the life activities and periodic reflections of a man who at age 20 began to write his life story and then continued to write periodic reports and reflection for the rest of his life. The journal begins while living in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, continues in Germany and Paraguay and ends in Canada. Both the original German journal books and an English translation are included in this fonds. The journals contain observations about the establishment and development of life in Paraguay by a group of Mennonite refugee immigrants, including their social, religious and economic situations.

This fonds contains a series of journals begun in Russia in 1908 and continued in Canada after 1923. Parts were written while the writer was still living in Nikolaifeld, then Arkadak, and finally in Hanley, Saskatchewan. There are transcriptions and translations with the materials which were completed by the MHC volunteer staff Jake Friesen in 2008.

This fonds consists of correspondence and documents collected in the course of researching the life and history of missionary John F. Kroeker (1871-1932?) his wife, Susanna (Schowalter) Kroeker (1874- ) and their descendants. Correspondence includes exchanges with Mennonite archives and historians in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Newton, Kansas. There is also extensive correspondence with Jean Hege in France.

This fonds consists of four series. 1) Hutterite Songs; 2) South Africa; 3) Personal Materials; 4) Felix Mendelssohn. These series contain handwritten and typed notes and transcriptions, annotated photocopies of source material for the author’s research, letters, essays, audio recordings, sheet music, and microfilm. Some of the files include remnants of the original folders that the author used, when she wrote on them as an extension of the pages of notes within. The material is in both English and German.

This fonds contains reports and correspondence from Helena's various assignments with the UNRRA (United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration) and WHO (World Health Organization), as well as University reports and assignments, correspondence from her hears in Montreal, and other notes and documents. Also included are several newspaper clippings or articles, a small collection of photographs, and many interesting documents such as diplomas, certificates and travel identification.

This fonds consists of a set of personal journals from 1936 to 2011, which records people that visited Helena Thiessen, places Helena visited and the activities of those she lived close to. There is also a series of notebooks containing personal notes, sometimes attending to loved ones who were in the last days of life in the hospital. Contained in this fonds are also some items which she acquired from her father, mother, sisters and brothers, as well as some person memorabilia like a recipe book, book of her school art work and the record of her baptism. A significant item is the friendship book started by her grandparents, Johann J. and Elizabeth Loewen, which contains birth, marriage and death dates of many friends and family members. The fonds also contains several hundred letters which she received from her parents, siblings and friends.

This fonds contains various newspaper clippings, poems and correspondence related to the Ebenezar Girl's Home (Maedchenheim) in Winnipeg. Included are some items that document the contact which Helene Tiessen continued to have with girls from the home. A small amount of material was created by her husband Rev. Gerhard A. Peters.

Of special interest is an interview of Helen Tiessen in German about the Maedchenheim created by Henry Dueck.
