Smith's papers include personal and professional correspondence, research notes and manuscripts for his books, subject files, class and teaching notes, and various administrative records from Goshen College and College Mennonite Church (Goshen, Ind.). Also includes a substantial collection of photographs.

Other less well documented subjects in the collecrtion include Krabill's Civilian Public Service work, mission work in Asia, career as a physician and professor at Goshen College, and his spiritual life. The collection includes more than 30 audiocassette sound recordings of speeches by Krabill and others on medicine, spirituality, Christianity, and other topics.
