Group of delegates en route to the 6th Mennonite World Conference

No. 1 in a set of numbered photos from the 6th Mennonite World Conference held in 1957 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Corny J. Rempel, a delegate to the conference, took photos and sent them with explanations to Frank Epp, editor of the CM. Rempel's explanations are included in the memos for each photo and a copy of them is in this envelope. In No. 1 a group of delegates enroute to the 6th MWC chat on the deck of a ship. L-r: Mrs. C. F. Derstine; Peter J. Dyck; Dr. Schrag; E. J. Swalm; Gerhard Lohrenz. In front of Peter Dyck is his older daughter, Ruth. The series continues to 2010-14. 469. A 2nd set sent to the CM by C. J. Negative only; two copies. Peter is sitting in front of a desk with a CFAM microphone. Likely he was speaking over the radio. The date is likely 1963 or 1964 when he was reporting to Canadian Churches. See CM 11-51-12.

Negative & small picture of him. Used in CM 5-27-3 & again in 5-51-8. With Peter and Elfrieda (Klassen) are their daughters Rebecca & Ruth. At this time Peter became MCC Director of Europe & Director of East-West Relations.

Copper plate. Used in CM 5-8-1; named to position of director of MCC East-West relations. In addition he was to serve as director of the MCC European program. The apt. grew out of MCC's delegation to Russia in 1956.
