Chortitza Teacher Training School - reunion, Canada

Flail and threshing stone

This is a photo of two tools used in threshing. On the left is a flail, which is the most ancient threshing machine. On the right is a threshing stone which when pulled by two horses turned on a metal rod. The ribs of the threshing stone beat out the grains spread out on the ground. This was a great improvement on the flail.
