Maxwell H. Kratz was one of three men elected to the first Mennonite Central Committee on 27 September 1920. He was active in the leadership of MCC during its first projects of Russian relief, the purchase of land in Paraguay, and its incorporation. IX-02 includes Maxwell H. Kratz's MCC correspondence 1921-1934 related to 62 Russian refugees immigrating to the U.S. from Constantinople (present Istanbul, Turkey) and refugee immigration to Paraguay.

The series consists of photograph prints and negatives received by "The Canadian Mennonite" from various sources for use in its publication. Photographs were taken by staff, or sent in by individuals or families. Some photographs were requisitioned from news agencies. Not all photographs received by the newspaper were printed. However, many were still retained. Photographs in the collection document family celebrations, congregational and conference events, Mennonites at work and at voluntary service and mission efforts, travel, and world affairs. Where possible, the year, issue number and page location of a published photograph is included in the description of each individual photo.

Most of the records were created for administrative purposes and reflect the Executive Office’s activities in overseeing the various MCC Canada departments and programs. The records within the series include financial and administrative records, program and project reviews, committee and meeting minutes, correspondence, publications and research materials, annual reports, records relating to provincial MCCs, news/communications material, government communications, records of MCC Canada national programs and international programs, audio-visual material, and records relating to MCC offices in Akron or the provinces.
