Buggies, wagons and tent in a cleared area

This is a photo of a cleared area alongside the Nechako River. A work group appears to be discussing the next moves in front of a large white tent, with two buggies and two wagons in front and more behind. There is part of a log building on the left and another in in the upper right, as well as crude zig-zagging log fencing, perhaps a corral.

Carriage stuck in mud

This photo is of a carriage [wagon] loaded with cotton and pulled by oxen and horses stuck in water and mud in a Mennonite colony in the Paraguayan Chaco. Transportation from the field to the market was slow in the first few decades after settlement, which in turn impeded economic growth. Only with the completion of the Trans-Chaco Highway in 1951 did the situation change.

Tent and annex

This is a photo of a tent and annex fitted with a stovepipe . It may have served as a summer kitchen. There is a buggy on the left and wagon on the right. Jake Suderman is standing in front of the tent and presumably one of his younger sisters, either Annie Suderman (12) or Dora Suderman (10). A dog (out of focus) is walking left to right. There are three unidentified men in the photo, two standing by the tent and one sitting on the back of a wagon on the right. In the book "Personal Diary of Peter Neufeld 1917 - 1918" this photo is described as being J. H. Wiens and his wife, Hulda. They lived in a tent on his homestead. They left before building a house.
