History
In 1920 Benjamin H. Unruh participated in a Studien-Kommission, sent out by the Mennonites of Russia to report on their conditions and suffering to the Mennonites in the United States. This Kommission consisted of B. H. Unruh and A. A. Friesen of Halbstadt, K. H. Warkentin from Waldheim , and John Esau of Ekaterinosla: all from the Ukraine. Unruh’s life work was served in the interests of his Russian Mennonite brethren in emigration and resettlement, working in this respect directly as commissioner for the Canadian Mennonite Board of Colonization for the immigration to Canada 1921-25 and later, and for the Mennonite Central Committee in immigration to Paraguay 1930-33.
