Abraham Unruh seated with his guitar

The 18 year old Abraham Unruh, Alida’s maternal uncle, is seated with his guitar. Abraham was the brother of Anna Unruh, Alida’s mother. The photo was taken Aug. 22, 1943 and sent to Anna Unruh who was living in Leipzig, Germany at that time. Abraham changed his name to Adolf under the German occupation of the Ukraine.

The bride is wearing a long white dress with a net type longer veil A spray of green and tiny flowers is pinned on her left bodice and on her headpiece. The groom is wearing a longer jacket or coat, a white shirt and tie. He also has a boutonniere of tiny flowers and a white ribbon. The background is a window on the right and a large vase standing on a stand on the left.

Abram Dick in Alternative Service in Russia

This photograph shows Abram Dick, 1890-1970, probably while he is serving in the Asov Forestry Camp. He is wearing the Forestry uniform posing at an arbored gate with a bicycle. The name Kathe Warkentin is written on the reverse side, along with Abram J. Dick's address, 56 Wigle Str., Leamington, Ont. This photograph also appears on page 61 of Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia, and in Nick Peters' collection of photocopied photos, No. 25.

Abram Driedger in Alternative Service in Russia

This photograph shows Abram Driedger dressed in the Forestry Service uniform, posed at an arbored gate holding on to a bicycle. This is probably the Asov Forestry Camp. Abram Driedger is a brother-in-law to Abram Dick, donor of this photograph collection. This photograph also appears on page 108 of Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia, and in Nick Peters' collection of photocopied photos as No. 26.

This item is a studio photo of Abram Dyck with his new wife Helena Epp. They are sitting on chairs in front of a backdrop. They are well-dressed in dark clothing with Helena wearing a head covering and Abram a 3-piece suit.. The photo was send to Abram's son, Abram Dyck in Didsbury, Alberta, who immigrated to Canada around 1890. Abram's first wife and mother of Abram A. Dyck (1867-1945) of Didsbury, was Susanna Wall (1845-1885?).
