Administrative history
Rest Haven Care Home had its beginnings in 1946 when the Kleine Gemeinde purchased the Invalidenheim on Hanover Street in Steinbach from Miss Maria Vogt. This home had been run as private hospital until Steinbach built their own, and then later as an invalid home. The home was to be named Mennonite Old Foks Home but this was later changed to Mennonite Invalid Home, a name that it had until 1960, when a new home was built on Kroeker Avenue, and the name was changed to Rest Haven Nursing Home. In 1984 a new building was moved into on Friesen Avenue. The old Rest Haven building was converted into apartment suites and became known as Parkview Manor. In 1995 Woodhaven Manor, attached to Rest Haven building, was completed.
Rest Haven is a private, non-profit, faith-based, personal care home licensed and funded by Manitoba Health Seniors and Active Living. It is owned and operated by eight area Evangelical Mennonite Conference member churches. (2022).
