Mennonite Refugee children - 1949 in Dirmstein

This photo is of three Mennonite refugee children sitting on a wagon in Dirmstein, Germany. Two cows, resting on the ground, are attached to the wagon. The wagon is on a flat bare field. A few trees without leaves are seen in the background. At the back of the photo on the right side behind a stone wall, the roof of a building can be seen.

Person returning home from Russia

A man, head down, wearing an old coat, holding a paper bag walks amid others on the street. Note on back: "Person returning home from Russia (Russland-Heimkehrer)! One of many, many thousands, broken in body and spirit, weak, sick & neglected, having lost his faith in mankind & a better future." Taken summer 1947 in Germany. Mr. Kreider is written on back of photo. Possibly Robert Kreider, MCC Germany 1946-1948, was the donor.

Refugee children, 1920

This is a photo of a group of Mennonite refugee children in the 1920s either in Russia or in Germany. An adult can be seen in the upper left hand corner.Five children can be fully or partially seen in the back row and five in the front row. A young girl holds a drink in a cup and a boy holds a plate in front of him. Two girls are wearing plaid blouses and dark jumpers which are decorated with rickrack.

Refugee memorandum of thanks to Canadian Mennonite Board

This is a photo of a refugee memorandum of thanks prepared by Mennonite refugees in Moelln, Hammerstein, Germany expressing their thanks to the Canadian Mennonite Board of Colonization. It is signed by H. Loewen, Joh. Klassen, F. Goertz, Abr. Dyck, A Loewen and P. Klassen.(HR 263).
