Born in Pennsylvania to Jacob E. and Rhoda (Eshleman) Martin. He was a graduate of Goshen College and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Paul pastored churches in La Junto and Aspen, Colorado, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Des Moines, Iowa.
