A dinner sponsored by the General Conference Mennonite Church Board of Missions

Used in the CM 4-26-3. A dinner sponsored by the GCMC Board of Missions to honour 2 pioneer missionaries and an Indian Christian couple. Standing at the head table are right to left: P. A. Wedel, chairman of the Board of Missions of the GCMC, shaking hands with Samuel Stephen, an active national worker on the General Conference mission field in India. Mr. Stephen's wife stands next to him (third from right) and next to her are Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Moyer, who had served for 35 years in India. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen were delegates for the Indian Mennonite Church at the GCMC General Conference to be held in Winnipeg in August. The man in the foreground who looks towards Wedel (wearing glasses) could be Frank H. Epp. See article below photo.

A group of Japanese university students with Paul W. Boschman

Used in the CM 2-32-3. A group of Japanese university students who attended the English Bible class pose with Paul W. Boschman who taught the class weekly in one of the classrooms of the Miyazaki University. Two members of the class were Christians. "The Canadian Mennonite" is written on the back of the photo. This class was formerly taught by W. C. Voth.

Negs only, 2. In the larger one, a man dressed in a suit, possibly Sylvester Dirks, a Krimmer Mennonite Brethren missionary, is talking in front of a stone wall beside the protruding head of an dragon-like creature. In the 2nd neg. (7x8.5), an Indigenous woman (likely Ashaninca) holds a child. The description for this neg may be on the enclosed note which states: 28. "Dona Florinda and her baby. Dona Florinda's face brightens wonderfully when she smiles - but Peruvians think it improper to smile in a photo." See CM 4-414 for information about Dona Florinda.
