Outgoing correspondence and photographs of a Mennonite missionary and his family.  Correspondence consists of "form letters" to keep friends and families informed of their mission work in Kentucky.  The papers also include advertisements and other ephemera from "Wenger's Christian Supply" and "Wenger's Supply," a family business selling vitamins, nutritional supplements, and "the talking Bible."  An essay by Wayne Wenger, entitled "The Wearing or Non-Wearing of the Tie" is also found in these papers.

These papers document the work of a Mennonite missionary couple who served in India between 1936 and 1953. Samuel served as principal of the Dhamtari Christian Academy while Nellie taught English and home economics and worked with female evangelists.

This collection also contains a variety of administrative records created before 1936, including missionary expense reports, treasurer correspondence, and other miscellaneous correspondence, reports, and financial records.

Two letters written by a Mennonite missionary family serving in Tres Lomas, Argentina.  In one letter, they express their frustrations and discouragement with the local Catholic priest, their "small weak congregation," and the local "spiritual coldness."  The other letter is more upbeat in tone and recounts both their successes and failures in Tres Lomas.

Rhoda and Ruth Ressler Papers 1889-2008

The papers contain a hodgepodge of information pertaining to Ruth and Rhoda Resslers' various stints in Japan as mission and relief workers. Materials include correspondence, activity reports, the newsletter of the Hokkaido Mennonite Fellowship, miscellaneous materials relating to Mennonite mission work in Japan, and financial records. The Resslers' papers also contain a number of photographs, scrapbooks, and a handful of slides. Researchers should be aware, however, that many of the images are not labeled. The collection holds a several audiocassettes as well: recorded lectures presented by the Resslers in Japan, an oral history interview with Rhoda and Ruth Ressler, and a multi-tape oral history with Rhoda Ressler. Also included is an 1889 statement on dress and prayer coverings, unrelated to Mennonite mission work in Japan.

Slides and one large photogographic print depicting Mennonite mission and service worksites in Brazil, Ethiopia, Honduras, India, Nepal, and Vietnam.  Many of the images are artistic shots and therefore not well-labeled.  However, as Kaufman was a volunteer photographer for Mennonite mission and service organizations, the photos can be identified through comparison to other holdings in the archives.

Mission Education Council Records

The administrative records of the Mission Education Council, an inter-Mennonite organization convened by Mennonite publishers that functioned from 1960 to 1977, producing congregational study materials for adults and children. Active participants were the General Conference Mennonite Church, the Mennonite Church, with Mennonite Brethren and Brethren in Christ. The collection includes minutes, executive secretary correspondence, and study outlines.

Correspondence, completed questionnaires, and reports regarding Project #20, a study of Mennonite evangelism by John A. Hostetler. The questionnaires provide interesting details regarding the reasons why former members of the (old) Mennonite Church, both men and women, decided to leave the church in the 1940s and early 1950s.
