History

  • traces its beginning to the late 1920s when Maria Vogt (1881-1961) and her brother Abram A. Vogt established the first Steinbach Hospital in their home without government support
  • after a new hospital was built and opened in January 1937 as Bethesda Hospital, Maria Vogt turned the private hospital into the Invalidenheim
  • in 1946 the home was sold to a group from the Mennonite Kleine Gemeinde (later called Evangelical Mennonite Church)
  • in 1960 a new home was built on Kroeker Avenue and the name changed to "Resthaven Nursing Home"
