Mennonite Historical Society of British Columbia (repository)
The Mennonite Historical Society of BC was first organized in December of 1972. At that time the Society primarily focused on starting a Museum featuring Mennonite artifacts. Since then the emphasis has shifted to developing an environmentally controlled archival centre. Its purpose is to collect and preserve valuable historical records related to the Mennonite community of BC and making these records available for research. In 1987 the Mennonite Archival Association of BC was formed to oversee the development of the archives. It was not until 1994 that the ownership of the archives was officially returned to the Mennonite Historical Society of BC. In 1997 the archives found a suitable home in the Garden Park Tower and was located there until the fall of 2015. The Archives is now located on the second floor in the newly completed Mennonite Heritage Museum located at 1818 Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford.
