Scope and content
Carl Kreider to Bender: [obviously responding to the September 13 letter]; another very substantive letter giving Kreider’s outlook and approach, and faith convictions, with considerable nuance; very practically but also somewhat philosophically, wrote of the significance (immediate and broadly) of an accounting job he had in Cleveland, impact of living in the city, etc.; recounted in detail his being in the lot, the intent to ordain him immediately, Johns’ understanding response to Kreider’s hesitation, etc.; letter conveys great respect and appreciation for Bender and Bender’s advice; that “Prof. Hershberger” [surely Guy F. Hershberger] had written to Kreider with set of concerns similar to Bender’s.
