Biographical history

Jess Yoder received a B.A. from Goshen College in 1953, an M.A. from Northwestern University in 1954, and a B. D. from Goshen College Seminary in 1956.  He was an ordained Mennonite pastor and served Zion Mennonite Church (Birdsboro, Penn.) from 1957 to 1959.

Yoder returned to his studies, earning a Ph.D from Northwestern University in 1962.  He taught in the Department of Speech at Goshen College from 1959 to 1964 and in the Department of Communication at Cleveland State University from 1964 to 1985.

Archival history

At one time, these records were assigned the number HM1-795.  They were recalssified as a Goshen College manuscript collection in April 2011.

Small set of personal papers created by a Goshen College alumnus and former Goshen College and Cleveland State University professor of speech and communication.  Materials include biographical information, Yoder's tenure dossier, article manuscripts, and materials pertaining to his sabbatical in Ireland in the late 1970s.
