Marien Deaf and Dumb School, Tiege - Abram Wiebe

This is a photo of four pupils, two girls and two boys, and their teacher Abram Wiebe in a classroom. Deaf and dumb pupils are taught to form sounds. Abram Wiebe is resting his fingers on the pupil's larynx and chin and often guides the tongue. It usually took several months of instruction to teach these children the ABC in the proper tonal pitch because they could not hear what they were saying.

This item consists of Jacob Jantz house, Saskatoon. The house is of the Mid-Century Split Level design. It has a two door garage half sunken into the ground. The front grass has been replaced with growing lands with rows of plotted plants.

This item consists of Pioneering at Rabbit Lake. two men are plowing a field with a team of 5 horses. One man is sat on the back of a horse, while the other stands by the plow. Before them is a patch of already plowed ground. Behind them is uncultivated grounds with dense brush and small trees further behind them. [see "Mennonite Exodus" p. 195].

This item consists of Pioneering at Rabbit Lake. Three men are working on the construction of a log cabin. Two of the men work on the area of the cabin around the main door, while the third man is working with a horse. The horse has a platform attached to it carrying a barrel. Surrounding the cabin is dense brush and small trees. [see "Mennonite Exodus" p. 195].

This item consists of Friesen's Department Store, Saskatchewan. A strip of businesses along a dirt road. From right to left the businesses are "Rosthern Jewellers", "Shop-Rite", and "Friesen's Dept. Store". A group of people stand in the entrance to the jewellery store. Four cars are parked alongside the stores.

A sign in the top left advertises a sale for "ladies Beach Hats" and their price range from $0.69 to $2.99. Further to the back another sign advertises "Boy's Dress Oxfords" at a price of $3.97 per pair. Along the shelves to the right is a display of briefcases, and below those are folded clothes.
