Delegates to the East Reserve

This photo is of the Mennonite delegates from Russia preparing to depart from the Federal Dominion Lands Office in Winnipeg to inspect the East Reserve. Government officials and even some Native people are present in the photo (note: this is only a copy of the original).

Village No. 2 in Volendam Colony

This photo is of a neatly organized yard and home of a Mennonite immigrant in Village No. 2, Volendam Colony. The house has a thatched roof and the yard is fenced in with [sugar cane?] stocks.

Students in Friedensheim

This photo is a group shot of young students standing in front of the school building in Friedensheim, the "Widow's Village" in Neuland Colony. The students are holding school bags donated to the immigrant children by MCC.

Elder Epp and family

This photo is of Elder Epp and his family standing beside a thatched roof home. Most of the Epps immigrated to Paraguay early in 1947, though their son only found the family in late 1948.

Thatched roof school house

This photo is of a thatched roof building with no walls used as a school building. The school was already in use three months after Mennonite immigrants established Volendam Colony.

Anna Fast's sod house

This photo is of Bernard Dyck and his wife, with [widow?] Anna Fast. The three newly-arrived Mennonite immigrants are standing in front of Fast's home, which they build out of sod in 1951.
