Zion Mennonite Church - Winnipeg, MB

This is a photo of the Zion Mennonite Church in Winnipeg, corner of Alexander Avenue and Ellen Street. What is now The First Mennonite Church of Winnipeg began by renting, and later purchased, the Zion Reformed Church building on Alexander and Ellen shown here in 1938. They built their own church building on Notre Dame at Alverston in 1950, which was further expanded in 1958 and 1983.

Wooden Wall Clock

This photo is of a wooden wall clock. This clock hung on the walls of the Griswold Church since 1941. In 1954 it was moved to the new church in Alexander. Now it keeps our preachers on time - same as in the old days.

Witmarsum church

The Witmarsum church was built in 1960-1961 by Bouwbedrijf J. Heeringa - it replaced a very simple meetinghouse which was called the Menno Simons House which had been built in 1877. GAMEO article indicates that the Witmarsum Church which was built in 1960-1961 by Bouwbedrijf J. Heeringa with help from Mennonite Voluntary Service was dedicated in 1961 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the death of Menno Simons.
