The Witmarsum church was built in 1960-1961 by Bouwbedrijf J. Heeringa - it replaced a very simple meetinghouse which was called the Menno Simons House which had been built in 1877. GAMEO article indicates that the Witmarsum Church which was built in 1960-1961 by Bouwbedrijf J. Heeringa with help from Mennonite Voluntary Service was dedicated in 1961 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the death of Menno Simons.
