Caption on back reads: "Where M.P.M. is building station. A house on the Bloodvein Indian Reserve. It appears to be a good size. However at the time I visited the large part was not in use at all due to a need of repairs. A family of five were living in the small right section of the house.. This is a photo of a housebarn Mennonite residence in the village of Rosenthal, Chortitza Colony, Russia. The house is described as a mud house with a thatched roof. The house has shuttered windows. There is a larger two-wheeled cart in the front holding a large barrel.

A house in Greece believed to be where Elbert and Zola Esau lived (on the upper floor) while serving in Mennonite Central Committee in about 1953. The couple did agricultural development and nursing work. Their landlady, who lived on the lower floor, was an older woman named Marluka. PAX men may have also frequented the house.
