Records of the office of the president of the education agency of the (old) Mennonite Church.  These records are divided into series by the office holder and contain primarily correspondence and subject files, but also include reports.

Researchers will note that these records are quite incomplete. There are no presidential papers for the following presidents: John Blosser (1902-1917), Sanford Calvin (S. C.) Yoder (1918-1924), H. R. Schertz (1924-1929), D. A. Yoder (1929-1948), and Paul Erb (1963-1965). In some cases, correspondence pertaining to these presidents' leadership of the Mennonite Board of Education may be found in their personal papers.

Reports, correspondence, and subject files comprise the bulk of the records of the recording secretary of the Mennonite Board of Education.  Secretaries of the Mennonite Board of Education include S. F. Coffman (1925-1939), C. F. Yake (1939-1949), J. Forrest Kanagy (1949-1969), and Harvey W. Baumann (1969-1972).  Researchers should note that there are relatively few records older than 1962.

Mennonite General Conference Educational Counseling Committee Records

A small set of minutes and correspondence from a committee charged with developing ways to coordinate secondary, collegiate, and Bible college educational initiatives across the denomination.  This committee operated under the authority of the Mennonite General Conference and its records appear to have been placed with those of the Mennonite Board of Education for the convenience of researchers.

Minutes, reports, correspondence, and miscellaneous materials of the Nursing Education Council and its predecessor, the Committee on Nursing Education.  The Nursing Education Council was formed in 1949 to review the problems of nursing education, to assist in coordinating the pre-nursing curricula at Mennonite colleges with the denominational nursing education program, and to coordinate the education of nurses with the (old) Mennonite Church's evangelism and service programs.  These record include information about the effort to establish a nursing school in Elkhart, Ind. that would be convenient for Goshen College students.

Minutes, correspondence, and assorted collected materials gathered around a two day committee meeting to address agricultural education in colleges affiliated with the (old) Mennonite Church.  The failure of Goshen College's agriculture and farming course in the 1920s received particular attention in this meeting.

Minutes, correspondence, published standards for day school and secondary education, and miscellaneous materials created by the body tasked with the "churchwide promotion, correlation, and guidance of all educational interests as assigned to the [Mennonite] Board [of Education] by the {Mennonite Church] General Conference."  The General Educational Council was disbanded in 1959 after a reorganization of the Mennonite Board of Education.
