Weidenfeld, Jacob A. Braun, a house under construction.

The photo shows the Jacob Braun house under construction in Weidenfeld. Four men are pictured in front of the building. This [two story] log framed house has mud walls and a corrugated metal roof. The wooden strips between the logs probably indicate [the use of the wattle and daub method for constructing the mud walls].

Weidenfeld, J. F. Reimer residential house

The photo shows the residential house of J. F. Reimer in Weidenfeld. [The people in the picture could be Jacob and Katharina Reimer with their children and perhaps Jacob's brother Johann.] The house has a corrugated metal roof and there is a truck on the left of the picture.

The photo shows the first Harder residence in Weidenfeld. The house has three sections: the rooms on either end have clay brick walls and a corrugated metal roof. The room in the middle has open walls and a thatched roof. Two children are sitting in the doorway of the center room.

The photo shows six men involved in the construction of the school in Weidenfeld. The log framed building has a [central row of tall logs to form the peak of the roof]. The wooden strips between the logs forming the frame indicate that [the wattle and daub method of constructing mud walls is probably being used].

The photo shows the inside of the David Peters house in Waldheim. Two children, [probably children of David Peters] are sitting on a bench at the kitchen table. The furniture is handcrafted out of wood. The ceiling shows exposed wooden beams above which can be seen corrugated metal sheeting. [Balls of cotton are lying on the table and bench.]

The photo shows Heinrich Toews and three other persons each enjoying a wedge of watermelon in the middle of a field of watermelons in Waldheim. The two people on the left could be his sons, and beside them are Heinrich and Maria Toews.

The photo shows Heinrich Toews showing off a small sample of the harvest in Waldheim. [Maria Toews] is on the left holding corn, their child is in the middle holding a wedge of watermelon, and Heinrich is on the right holding sorghum. On the ground in front of them there appears to be a sunflower head, cucumbers, more watermelons and some squash.
