Indigenous men dancing in Bolivia
Two photos both used in the CM 6-35-4 in the 2nd article on "Christianity in South America." One photo shows Indigenous men dancing in traditional dress, and the caption reads: Pachamama is the old god in Bolivia worshipped through songs and dances. Bolivia is a land of opportunity for missions. In the second photo an Indigenous woman in her traditional dress is shown from the back walking along a street with buildings on either side, entering the captial city of La Paz. This photo is of John Esau doing wood work with three Africans. description on back reads: " This is the place where the caliber of the native carpenter meets the condition of the carpenter shop. With a meager number of tools they construct 20th century furniture. They must be taught the ways of the Great Carpenter of Nazareth. Here we are reconstructing our packing boxes into a chest of drawers."

This photo is of numerous Africans building a thatched-roof house [the photo was taken and described by John Esau?]. Description on the back reads: "On this picture the 5th grade boys are constructing storage space for empty barrels firewood, etc. This is the type of house the native lives in too. It is made of poles, sticks and red clay with a grass roof. We did not keep track of the hrs spent at this project but in 1/4 of the time they have one constructed for themselves."
