Portrait of Gerhard P. Dyck (1809-1887). This is a copy, not quite clear. Gerhard was married 3 times -- 1st wife Maria Dyck, 1812-1869, 2nd wife Justina Martens 1822-1875, 3rd wife Maria Pries nee Janzen 1830-1907 The children were Johann, Anganetha, Gerhard, Peter, Helena, Maria, Isaak, Isaak, Agatha, Katharina, Susanna, Abraham. Gerhard was elected as a minister in 1848 and Elder 1855-1885 in Russia. His son Isaak was also elected as Elder later. Gerhard's parents were Peter Dyck 1760-1824 and Aganetha Dyck 1768-1847. Gerhard had 2 sisters, Agatha and Helena. This is Generation 1 & 2 of the Peter Dyck 1760 Ancestry display.

This photo is a portrait of, left to right, top row David K. Kroeker (1875-), Jacob K. Kroeker (1870-1905). Front row, Maria Kroeker (nee Maria Koslowski (1833-1911), and Klaas Kroeker (1828-1914). This photo was taken in Russia. The family moved to Canada in 1903, Jacob returned to Russia to marry Anna Schellenberg. They had one son. When Jacob died in 1905, Anna and son Nicholai moved to Canada in 1925. Klaas is a brother to Jacob Kroeker (1836-1914) from Reinland, Manitoba. Klaas and his family stayed for a short time with brother Jacob when they came in 1903 to Canada, before relocating to Lost River, Saskatchewan.

This postcard was produced by Lithogr. Kunstanstalt Mehner & Maas, Leipzig R. A collage of images have the following identification on the card: Total Ansicht (total overview), Mennoniten Kirche (Mennonite church), Amstgebaeude Post u. Telephon Comploir (administrative office of the postal and telephone service), Grosse Eiche (grand oak). The handwritten message in German Gothic script is addressed to brother-in-law and sister-in-law. No signature.

This is a photo of Peter Sawatzky (1850-1925) and his wife, born Niebuhr. Sawatzky was a businessman in Chortitza. Four of their six children were exiled. Two of these have died. The fate of the others is unknown. [HR 157]

The construction of the tunnel and 84-foot high dam in 1905 in the villages of Chortitza and Rosenthal. This was done so that the railroad could be built from the city of Zaporozhye through these villages to Nikopol.
