This photo is of 12 men and women posing for a photo inside the church building at the corner of Manitoba ave. and McKenzie street. The address was 652 Manitoba ave. Beside the choir is a foot pump organ with German sayings on the clapboard walls. This photo is of the same group of people as NP045-01-13 which as identification of the choir members. Anna Thiessen in middle row second from left.

This photo is of Sunday School children and adults at the Mennonite Brethren church at the corner of Manitoba and MacKenzie, Winnipeg. 2 copies. This building was known as the German Baptist Mission Chapel which was rented by the Mennonite Brethren group. Second row from back, 4th from left is Anna Thiessen and 7th from left is William Bestvater.

Anna Thiessen

This photo is portrait of Anna Thiessen. Anna was an early city missionary in Winnipeg. Working out of the North End Chapel, she did home visits, hospital visits, Sunday School, sewing classes, and became the matron of the Mary Martha Home in Winnipeg.

This photo is of a group of adult men and women in the basement of the North End Mennonite Brethren Church basement who passed the 1921 Bible course given by Rev. William Bestvater.

This postcard photo is a portrait of five young women in uniform. On the reverse of this photo is penciled in German, "This is how we looked in our afternoon maid uniforms, 1926. For our dear Sister Anna out of love and as a friendly remembrance."

This photo is of the women of the Mary Martha Home. Anna Thiessen is at the centre of the fourth row from front, wearing glasses. -- Note: there are 2 copies of this photo, copy 2 is accession number 2002-007 from the Nicholai Fehderau collection. On the back of this photo the date is given as March 1927 whereas the on copy 2 the date, written in pencil, is 1932. The date March 1927 seams to be more authentic.
