Note included with the photoraph reads: "Black Smith shop on the left is where the Stone Crock is situated at present. The ramp on the right side was used to take buggies up to the second storey for painting. The builing on the right was rented to Jacob Good who had the first Garage in St. Jacobs. He also used it as his eclectric [electric?] shop. He started the Garage in 1919 and in 1921 he moved..."

A note included with the photograph reads: "John Ritter built this Hotel which was on the North West corner of King and Albert St. Later he sold it and the first Bank opened up there by the name Sovereign Bank. Later it moved across the street. It was then that Feil's Bakery started. However before Mr. Ritter built the brick building it was a large frame building and it was a Furniture Factory operated by Mr. Schaefer."

This is a photo of Gerhard Nikkel and his second wife Wilhelmine Kuipers, and the children. Wilhelmine is the sister to Anna Caroline, Gerhard's first wife.

This is a photo of Gerhard Nikkel and his wife Anna Caroline, born Kulpers, from Holland with their children. They served as missionaries on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, where Anna died. Gerhard was a chaplain at the Razin Forestry camp. Around 1901 her married a sister to his firs wife, and they lived in Gnadenfeld, Molotschna. A son Franz was murdered in 1919. [HR 157].

Caption in The Canadian Mennonite, November 9, 1962 (10-44-9) reads: "Servettes is the name of a group of about 15 young women in the United Mennonite church, Waterloo, Ont., which began as a fellowship group two years ago and since then has made a rather unique contribution to the church by helping spontaneously wherever help is needed including a wide variety of activities including library work, painting, and the traditional sewing and preparation of suppers."
