Published Poetry

This section contains poetry hournals that published Anna Ruth Ediger Baehr's poems. They are organized chronologically.

Poetry Compilations and Manuscripts

Contains compilations of poems in various states of organization. The first file, "Through Clear Windows" appears to be a clean copy ready for submission. What follows are collected poems in various states of revision. Loose leaf copies are labeled #1, 2 and 3 and the rest of the files are organized by Anna Ruth Ediger Baehr.

Cheyenne Poems and Talks

This section contains poetry written on the Cheyenne, as well as a sampling of research and work on the Cheyenne history and culture. Additional research on the Cheyenne can be found in Box 17. Includes the following poems: Cinnabar; Christmas Eve; Ghost Dance; Kias (Bear Shakes Plants); Kias Begins the Song; Sota, Sweet Medicine; Talk Elk Tells a Story to Colleen; Yellow Bull Plows the Prairie (also called The First Farmer); How is it really? (also called I will not pretend); Wo'esta (also called How is it really).

Juvenalia

This section includes her earliest writing (compositions, short stories, and poetry) from elementary school through Bethel College.

Essays, Journaling

This section includes her reflections and journals she wrote throughout her adult life. As opposed to the previous section these were never necessarily related to her writing profession.

Talks, Readings, and Conferences

This section includes information on writing engagements she participated in between 1976 and 1997. The section includes conferences she attended, as well as notes from her own lectures, poetry readings, and public statements.

Publishing Information

A compilation of her manuscripts is located in this box under the heading, "Manuscripts." Additional correspondences with publishers can be found in Box 18, under the subheading "Poetry Correspondences."
