The collection consists of an original leather-bound notebook belonging to Joseph Bowman, documenting among other things some of his travels. Along with this notebook is a typed transcript of these travel reports dated 1975.

Christian and Elizabeth Bauman Letter
A typed transcription of a letter describing the Baumans' trip from Ontario, Canada to their home in Breckneck Township, Pennsylvania in 1846 and the condition of their crops and the weather upon their arrival. Five different copies of the transcript are present.

A transcribed, typewritten copy of a diary kept by Ammon Sala, a Mennonite conscientious objector who was conscripted for military service in World War I. Sala left for Camp Lee on October 4, 1917 and was not released until December 1918. Sala's diary entries are very brief, describing one or two daily activities.
The diary was transcribed by Mark Moyer. The original diary remains in the possession of Helen Lenda.

Personal and pastoral papers of a pastor and bishop of the (old) Mennonite Church who served primarily in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. Durr also served as the first moderator of the Southwest Pennsylvania Mennonite Conference. He also served as moderator of the General Conference Committee and the preliminary General Conference in 1897.

A 9 page typed manuscript of a book entitled An Explanation of Incidents That Took Place among the So-Called Mennonites (1854). The manuscript concerns Grater's dispute with the Skippack, Pennsylvania Mennonite congregation.

These papers consist of one letter from Peter Nissley to Jacob Schneider (in German, with English translation) describing the health of his neighbors and arranging a meeeting among Jacob Schneider, Amos Herr, and himself, and twelve letters in English from John M. Brenneman to Peter Nissley discussing the welfare of the church.

Warren G. Bean Ministerial Records
Transcription created in 1963 of the ministerial records of a bishop who served the Franconia Conference of the Mennonite Church. Materials include (1) a list of members of the Upper Skippack Mennonite Church (Pennsylvania) at the time of Bean's ordination, (2) names, dates, and locations of baptisms performed, (3) a list of Franconia Conference ordinations, and (4) names, dates, ages, and texts preached for funerals performed.

Christian Reist Family Correspondence and Financial Documents
A small set of correspondence, bonds documenting loans of money, and wills pertaining to Christian Reist and members of his family in and around Lancaster Co., Penn.
Researchers should note that these are not the original letters, but rather photocopies.

Joseph Allen Hooley and Catherine Hooley Family Papers
Joseph Allen Hooley was the son of John C. Hooley and Elizabeth Hertzler Hooley, and his wife, Catherine (Hooley) Hooley was the daughter of David K. Hooley and Fannie (Hertzler) Hooley. Joseph and Catherine Hooley moved from Mifflin County, Penn. to West Liberty, Ohio in 1904. Both were members of the (old) Mennonite Church and appear to have made a living farming.
This small set of family papers consists primarily of land records (indentures, deeds, etc., mostly from Mifflin County, Penn.). Other materials include family account books, farm records, autograph books, estate documents, and a scrapbook containing clippings of poems.
