With an orthodox church in the background, people are gathered on the street proclaiming with black flags and a banner in Russian that reads: Да здравствует свобода, равенство и братство (Long live freedom, equality and brotherhood).

Evangelical Russian peasants

This is a photo of a group of 6 women in winter garb - scarves over their heads, wearing aprons. They are posed on an open field alongside a car. One of the ladies has a book in her hand. Arthur Slagel describes them as Russian peasant women - Evangelical.

The trip to Novorossiysk, Russia.

This is a photo of a group of men posing on the lower deck of a ship. Two ship attendants are standing on the upper deck. This is probably a group of AMR workers, but none are identified except Alvin J. Miller, in the front, who has a white cloth wrapped around his hat. This photo was included in the Novorossiysk envelope. Arthur Slagel and A. J. Miller travelled to this seaport on the Albatross in April 1921 in an attempt to enter Russia. The trip was unsuccessful and they had to return to Constantinople.

Ruins of a fortress near Ksanka

This photographs shows an inside view of the ruins of a fortress near Ksanka, Caucasus? . About 15 men, serving as Medical Service workers on Train No. 208 are posed in the ruins. Abram J. Dick served on Train No. 208. There is a duplicate copy where the ruin is identified as, 'Kansi Ruin, east of Tbilisi, 2 1/2 hour drive. This photograph can also be seen in Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia on page 111. See also Photo No. 686-68. There are 4 copies of this photograph.

This photograph show a young unidentified man wearing the unfiorm of the Red Cross Alternative Service workers in Russia during World War I. He is leaning on a metal fence surrounded by foliage and palm trees. His arms are folded across his chest. This photograph can also be found in Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia, p. 114.
