This is a photo of a group of younger children standing separated from a group of adults and older children in the archway of a one-storey building in Halbstadt. There are some unidentified AMR workers and a car (or truck) on the picture.

This is a photo of a woman standing by a sod house (semlin), which was a building dug into the ground. It had a low construction with a straw roof, makeshift entrance and interesting chimney. Slagel describes it as "The hut of a Russian squatter in Halbstadt Volost. These people are crowding in between the Mennonite villages by the hundreds."

This is a photo of a group of 13 men and women, and two children, seated outside on benches on either side of a long table decked with a fancy tablecloth and fine china enjoying "Faspa", possibly. Arthur Slagel has identified this group as Halbstadt teachers. Nellie Dyck, wearing a light blouse, is seated at the far left end, beside the boy. At the right is H. Dyck and Arthur Slagel, 3rd from front.
