John M.T. Miller Papers

Correspondence between John M.T. Miller and his father, Moses D. Miller. John was born and raised in Holmes County, Ohio, and moved to Bloomington, Illinois, in 1869 with his wife Gerta (Troyer) Miller. In 1877, they moved to Seward County, Nebraska, where they purchased land and helped to establish the East Fairview Amish Mennonite Church.

Made up of sixteen letters, the collection includes details about land sales and prices and the activities of Amish Mennonites from Holmes County, Ohio, and elsewhere who sought to profit from the acquisition and sale of land in Nebraska.

Personal papers of a conscientious objector during World War I and Mennonite pastor in Ohio. The bulk of the material consists of sermons organized by topic..  Also included are photographs from Camp Sherman, where Frey was stationed during the First World War, and a journal recording the names of other conscientious objectors at Camp Sherman and their visitors.  A small amount of correspondence from the World War I and World War II eras may also be found in these papers.

These papers consist of one letter from Peter Nissley to Jacob Schneider (in German, with English translation) describing the health of his neighbors and arranging a meeeting among Jacob Schneider, Amos Herr, and himself, and twelve letters in English from John M. Brenneman to Peter Nissley discussing the welfare of the church.

Andrew Brenneman Scrapbook and Correspondence

The scrapbook was made for Brenneman by members of the Central Mennonite Church, Elida Ohio, in the mid 1960s, when Brenneman was bed ridden due to illness at age 90.  Accompanying the scrapbook are scattered letters to, from, and about Brenneman, as well as an obituary and some newspaper clippings.

Twelve letters written by C. B. Steiner to his brother, Adam Steiner, of Morrison, Illinois.  C. B. Steiner, writing first from Orrville, Ohio, and later from Salem, Oregon, discusses the health of members of his congregation, his decision and preparations to begin pastoring in Oregon, and the state of his and his neighbors' farms and crops.  Letters are in German with English translations.

Materials include information on the Young People's Conference, a record book of the Ohio Mennonite Relief Commission, materials pertaining to Orrville Mennonite Church (Orrville, Ohio) and Walnut Creek Mennonite Church (Holmes County, Ohio), correspondence with Bishop O. N. (Otis Nathan) Johns, and miscellaneous materials.

Records consist primarily of correspondence, event programs, and a scrapbook.

The collection consists of early Mennonite documents collected by Mrs. Lester Snyder and their English translations. The documents include various baptismal certificates and letters from Langnau, Switzerland and Stark County, Ohio. Among the names listed in these documents are Christina Schwartz, Christian Schwartz, Ulrich Schwarz, Heinrich Sommer, Anna Barbara Wyss, Menonit Egli, Anna Haghegger, and Johannes Wyss.
