This is a photo of (left to right): Earl Martin, MCC co-secretary for East Asia; Jaime Cardinal Sin, Archbishop of Manila and John A. Lapp. MCC executive secretary. They are sitting at a large desk in an office. Sin is credited with a key role in inspiring the nonviolent spirit that toppled the rule of Ferdinand Marcos and led to the seating of Corazon Aquino.

This is a photo of youth flashing the "Laban" gesture during a nonviolent demonsration that occured in Manila during the peaceful transition of power from Ferdinand E. Marcos to Corazon C. Aquino. "Laban" means struggle and those who signal the Laban "L" support Mrs. Aquino.
