Hoffnungsfeld, Indians cleaning Quebracho trees.

The picture shows two indigenous men cleaning Quebracho tree trunks in Hoffnungsfeld. A third man appears to be working on a plank beside the warehouse which burned in January 1929. This area is surrounded by the Chaco bush.

Hoffnungsfeld, preparing planks at the nursery garden.

The photo shows five workers at the nursery garden at Hoffnungsfeld. One worker has a spade, another a hoe, two appear to be seeding by hand and the fifth one is watering with a metal watering can. The planting rows have been neatly staked out and the garden is surrounding by a barbed wire fence, beyond which is bush.

Soto cemetery

This photo is of 5 men standing in the Soto cemetery. Grave sites are marked by log structures above the ground. JM and Mary Schmidt worked as missionaries in the area, 1947-1948.

Going home by boat after church

This photo is of three canoes with people in them, heading home (Soto reserve?), presumably after a church service in Little Grand Rapids. JM and Mary Schmidt worked as missionaries in the area, 1947-1948.

This photo is of some people together outside. They are standing and sitting behind some stakes in the ground, possibly a drumming circle during a community event of some kind.

People on the reserve

This photo is of people standing around on the Soto Reserve. There is a white flag in the middle of the picture, and a man who appears to be about to take off his hat. The reverse of the photo has the name "Paul Keeper" inscribed, possibly the man with the had off (there is a pen marking).
