Leo Driedger fonds

This fonds consists of papers collected by Leo Driedger related to his involvement with the Board of Christian Service and the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of the General Conference Mennonite Church during the 1960s. They include peace education materials, meeting dockets and various papers on social issues such as nuclear weapons, everyday ethics and sexuality.

This fonds consists of 454 genealogical charts. These charts usually begin with a Mennonite ancestor in the 1700s and then shows descendants down to the later 20th century. The focus of the materials is on West Prussian Mennonites.

Abram Dyck fonds

This fonds consists of diaries and other materials which provide details on everyday life, current events and business dealings. Tucked into some of the diaries are advertisements, notices, lottery tickets and other day-to-day notes. The diaries for 1907 and 1918 are missing. The diary for 1919 is incomplete and obviously written under difficult conditions on different notepads and scraps of paper. There is also a small notebook with calculations written in pencil.

This fonds consists of one ledger that records grain and land prices around the turn of the 20th century. There are financial records related to the support for the local school and for fire insurance levies. There is also some prose written by William Friesen. The materials give a sense of the economic conditions and show some of the activities the Mennonite ministers in the Rosenheim area of Manitoba at that time.

Edwin Brandt fonds

This fonds consists of photos taken by Edwin Brandt of people and places related to his relationship with Indigenous communities in Manitoba. First when he served as a conscientious objector during the Second World War in Island Lake (now Garden Hill) in Northern Manitoba, later in Loon Straits, "Native Camp" held at Camp Assinibioa near Winnipeg,, and the beginnings of Y.O.U. (Youth Opportunities Unlimited) in Winnipeg.

This fonds consists of four series. 1) Hutterite Songs; 2) South Africa; 3) Personal Materials; 4) Felix Mendelssohn. These series contain handwritten and typed notes and transcriptions, annotated photocopies of source material for the author’s research, letters, essays, audio recordings, sheet music, and microfilm. Some of the files include remnants of the original folders that the author used, when she wrote on them as an extension of the pages of notes within. The material is in both English and German.

This fonds consists of letters written to Cornelius L. Plett by friends and family. They provide a valuable insight into the daily life in Mennonite village settlements in Canada, U.S., and Mexico in the first two decades of the twentieth century, as they discuss village and church dynamics, as well as personal issues and challenges of the writers. Most of these letters are written in the German Ghotic Script.

The records document Mennonite life in Russia and early Mennonite life on the Manitoba Mennonite West Reserve. Starting with the Jacob Wall diary (created by Johann's father) with details of life in Russia, to school materials (penmanship) and copied reports and speeches such as information on Hutterites written by Heinrich Donner, and ending with his own financial records as a mill owner in Manitoba and Saskatchewan., which have details of life in Canada. There are legal documents such as land, mortgage and income tax documents. Of special interest are portions of a blue print for the mill that Johann Wall built and operated in Blumenort, Manitoba.
