Mr. and Mrs. John S. Kehler are sitting on chairs with a young boy (Ronald) on their lap. Two young men (Henry & Walter) are standing behind them and a teen-aged girl (Violet). Two younger boys (John and Glenn) are standing on each side of the parents. The other boys (Reuben and Kenneth) are standing on either side of the parents. The young men and father are wearing 3 piece suits, white shirts and ties. The younger 3 boys are wearing sweaters over their white shirts and ties. The young child is wearing overalls and a white shirt. Mrs. Kehler is wearing a dark dress with a large white collar . The daughter Violet (later a Mrs. Derksen) is wearing a dark dress and a lacy white collar.

L-r, Mrs. Eva (Sebastian) Rieger, Sr., Mr. Sebastian Rieger, Sr.(opened Rieger Clothing in Steinbach on March 1, 1915), Mrs. Aganetha (Johann) Rieger (sister to Johann G. Friesen, commonly known as Eich Friesens, who lived on the corner of Townline Rd and the road going north of Steinbach that later became #12 Hwy), Mr. Johann Rieger (a brother of Sebastian Rieger Sr)., Mrs. Magdalena (Heinrich) Sobering (grandmother of Steinbach policeman, Ben Sobering and a sister to Sebastian Rieger Sr. and Johann Rieger), Mrs. Anna (nee Rieger) Kreutzer, Mr. Heinrich Kreutzer.

The occasion of the picture was a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Johann Rieger to Steinbach. They resided in Alberta at the time. At one time they had resided in Steinbach, but had moved to Alberta after a short time here.

Scrapped WWII airplane

Scrapped WWII airplane in yard of Steinbach Sheet Metal. Photograph is stamped "Processed Jan 7 1948" on the back. The planes are Westland Lysander (nickname the "Lizzie"). Several hundred were built and sent to Canada before and during the Second World War. British planes were named after mythical or historical military leaders; in this case the Spartan admiral Lysander was chosen.
