Part of Harold Stauffer Bender Papers
[on stationery of Emergency Relief Board of the General Conference of the Mennonite Churches of North America]: In a letter by H. F. Eckart, one of the refugees in Harbin, China, he writes that the government would like to settle the refugees in Manchukuo giving them implements, cattle and sheep and free taxation for five years. The group would rather do that than go to South America and wish the American brethren would give consent. Does not know Eckart nor how reliable his statements are.
