Twelve letters written by C. B. Steiner to his brother, Adam Steiner, of Morrison, Illinois. C. B. Steiner, writing first from Orrville, Ohio, and later from Salem, Oregon, discusses the health of members of his congregation, his decision and preparations to begin pastoring in Oregon, and the state of his and his neighbors' farms and crops. Letters are in German with English translations.
The collection consists of several letters regarding Lewis James Heatwole's church work, an index listing of names and a listing of church troubles for the years 1902 to 1903.
Farm ledgers, account books, brief diaries, travel records for church work, and other miscellaneous material created by an Amish Mennonite bishop and church promoter who resided in Nappanee, Indiana in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Collection consists of 3 ledgers. One dates 1891-1898. Another dates 1898-1902. The third dates 1898-1904. The handwriting in the latter two changes in 1901; the books seem to contain the handwriting of only two persons.
The Beatrice history book God's Love in Action (1978) pp. 42 mentions a grocery goods store started by William J. Penner and later sold to John Wiebe. Possibly these have some connection with that business.
Assorted papers associated with Fannie Baumgartner Kauffman's (1867-1936) parents, Johannes (John) Baumgartner (1823-1904, emigrated from Alsace in 1856) and Verena (Fannie) Amstutz Baumgartner (1829-1873, emigrated from Alsace circa 1855). These include manuscripts of song lyrics, genealogical information, church letters, copy books, an account book / weather diary, and correspondence. The collection also contains a few items created by Fannie Baumgartner Kauffman and her husband, Henry M. Kauffman, including handwritten prayers, ephemera, and correspondence. Typewritten transcriptions are available for many of the German handwritten documents.

Mennonite Evangelizing and Benevolent Board (Elkhart, Ind.) Records
Early records of the organization that evolved into the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, the mission agency of the (old) Mennonite Church. Materials include a brief history of early Mennonite mission organizations, a cash book, the 1892 annual meeting report, and an early minute book containing minutes for the annual and occasional meetings of the Mennonite Evangelizing Committee (1882-1892), the Mennonite Evangelizing Board of America (1892-1896), and the Mennonite Evangelizing and Benevolent Board (1896-1906). In 1906, this board merged with the Mennonite Board of Charitable Homes and Missions to form the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities.
Records of a predecessor organization to the Mennonite Board of Missions, formed in error under the assumption that an organization incorporated in Ohio was required in order to acquire and manage property in Ohio. This organization, therefore should not be understood as a competing organization to the Mennonite Evangelizing and Benevolent Board and its predecessor organizations. Records include incorporation documents and by-laws, legal documents pertaining to the transfer of property, correspondence, and annuity contracts.
Mennonite Board of Charitable Homes and Missions (Rittman, Ohio)
Two certificates from the state of Ohio stating that Christian S. Stucky [Stuckey] was authorized as a Minister of the Gospel for the Mennonite and Amish churches, in 1879 and again in 1888. Also two notebooks containing records of marriages performed by Stuckey between 1879 and 1907 and formulas in German.
