This photo is of Paul Derstine (left) and three Haitian leaders. the description on the back says," Paul Derstine, Mennonite Central Committee unit leader at Hospital Grande Riviere du Nord, confers with three local Haitian leaders as they plan for community development projects for the area. MCC is placing emphasis on Haitian leadership, so this type of meeting is important. This sharing of ideas and decision making is important as these men will be the ones to carry forward ideas of value planned during Derstine's term of service. Seven volunteers are presently serving in the Grande Riviere du Nord area with a total of 17 persons now serving in Haiti, Paul is from Souderton, PA.

This is a photo of Paul N. Kraybill, secretary of the Council of Mission Board Secretaries (COMBS), who spoke at the Mennonite Central Committee Annual Meeting in Chicago, Ill., January 22-23, 1971. An article written by Kraybill, along with this photo, appeared in the MB Herald, June 11, 1971, pp. 2-4, in which he describes the relationship between missions and service.
