Personal papers of a Mennonite psychotherapist with professional expertise in trauma recovery, personal and communal healing, and pastoral boundary issues. Heggen is the author of Sexual Abuse in Christian Homes and Churches (1993) and a frequent presenter nationally and internationally.

In the early 1990s she played a crucial role in bringing John Howard Yoder's repeated violation of women to light by facilitating communication among women who had been violated by Yoder, and by calling upon church authorities to hold Yoder accountable for his actions.  Heggen is also a co-developer and co-presenter of Mennonite Women USA's Sister Care seminars.

Materials in this collection include selected sermons, lectures, workshops, and presentations, reviews of and correspondence received in response to her book on sexual abuse in Christian environments, correspondence and other documents pertaining to the 1992 complaint against John Howard Yoder's sexual misconduct, subject files pertaining to her work with United Mission to Nepal and Mennonite Central Committee, photographs, and miscellaneous materials.

Records pertaining to the production and reception of Christian Living, a 48 page magazine focused on Mennonite home and community.  Christian Living launched in 1954 after the merger of Mennonite Community and Christian Monitor. These records consist largely of various editors' correspondence and subject files, including Daniel Hertzler, Helen Alderfer, Loren Lind, J. Lorne Peachey, and David E. Hostetler.  Although Christian Living was published until 2002, these records extend only to 1990.

Collected materials concerning Clayton Kratz, an American Mennonite relief worker who disappeared from a Russian Mennonite settlement during the Russian Civil War.  Materials include photocopies of Goshen College yearbook pages, a 1917 letter about Kratz, a 1920 postcard from Kratz, information about the Clayton Kratz Residence Hall, and "True... Till Death," the serialized account of Kratz's life by Clarence Y. Fretz that appeared in the Youth Messenger in 1965.
