Formal photo of George C. Kroeker
Formal photo of George C. Kroeker, maternal grandfather of Linda Huebert Hecht, posing in his Alternative Service uniform at 27 years of age. He served in the Army Medical Core (Sanitäre) during WW I. He and other young men, aged 17 and 18 years of age, aided in transporting the wounded from the German Front to Moscow. In February 1916 he was given one week leave, at which time he went home and was engaged to be married to Aganetha Plett. Perhaps this photo was taken at this time.
