Gerhard Epp's Barn

This is a photo of a large two storey brick barn built in 1913 by Gerhard Epp. There is a small unpainted picket fence in front of the barn. A small unpainted shed is in front of the fence. Four geese are off to the side.

This is a photo of a large two storey barn and granary (right side) belonging to Gerhard Schwarz in [Käsemark ?] , Poland. A cow is seen between the two buildings. There is a large empty yard in front of the buildings. Part of a fence can be seen off to one side.

Home of Heinrich Kurland & wife Katie

This photo is of the guard house of (Käsemark ?), Poland. This was also the home of Heinrich Kurland and his wife Käte [nee Wiebe] in the background. There are two tall trees beside the guard house. At one side of the photo is the high road that leads across a dam on the Vistula . Most of the photo is open space.

Pontoon Bridge

This is a photo of the pontoon bridge which was built in 1938. The photo was taken at Rotebude, Poland. The bridge was in use until 1973. The photo shows the bridge across the Tote Weichsel. In the foreground are low shrubs at the waterfront. On the other side of the river are taller trees.

This photo is of the Weichsel [Vistula] River with the new bridge, built in 1973, in the background. The river here has a strong current and whirlpools. On the left side of the photo shrubbery can be seen. An electrical transmission tower can also be seen in the background. This tower transmits power to Konigsberg Elbing.

A Dam in the area

This photo is of a dam. Electrical transmission poles run along side it. In the back, behind some trees is a sluice. Here the Weichsel [Vistula] branches off towards the Vistula Lagoon.

This photo is of the Danziger Haupt sluice with locks. In the foreground is a grassy area. There are some trees behind the sluice. Off in the distance is a bridge leading from dam to dam.

Windmill at Schönbann

This photo is of a windmill built as a memorial to Johann Cornies who lived here and was born at Bärwalde. The windmill sits on top of a wooden building. The roof in the centre of the building holding the windmill is flat. The roof at either end of the building is peaked. There are large trees behind the building.
