N. (Otis Nathan) Johns, and miscellaneous materials.

Hartzler's trip to India, the Middle East, and Europe in 1910-11.

A small set of personal papers belonging to a bishop of the (old) Mennonite Church who served in Palmyra, Missouri and was a member of the Mennonite Board of Education.

The richest documentation in this small set of personal papers is the correspondence (primarily incoming) regarding conflicts within the church and Kreider's concern about growing liberalism, particularly in dress, within the Mennonite Church and its schools.  There are also several interesting letters concerning chivareeing and serenading.  Correspondents include Daniel Kauffman, Simon Gingerich, J. B. Smith, J. A. Heatwole, C. L. Ressler, P. J. Blosser, D. G. Lapp, J. B. Brunk, Maurice Yoder, S. C. Yoder, and Milo Kauffman.  In 1925 and 1926 with some Tuleta, Texas members -- Rhoda Yoder, Elva Unzicker, and P. Schrock.

Also included in the papers are miscellaneous materials pertaining to the Mennonite conferences of the south and central plains, ministerial meeting minutes, records pertaining to Levi (L. J. ) Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho, a record of marriages performed, information on conscientious objectors in World War I, and other assorted documents.

Researchers should note that the collection has been rehoused into one box and the folder numbers have not been updated.

Personal and pastoral papers of a pastor and bishop of the (old) Mennonite Church who served primarily in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania.  Durr also served as the first moderator of the Southwest Pennsylvania Mennonite Conference. He also served as moderator of the General Conference Committee and the preliminary General Conference in 1897.

A small set of personal papers consisting primarily of the diaries of a Mennonite bishop in Illinois.  The diaries provide brief daily entries recording the weather, select activities of the day, and sometimes scripture passages.  Of note in the 1919 diary are records of Nice's trips to California and Virginia.  Also included are two photographs and a photocopy of the memorandum book of Morrison Mennonite Church (also known as Mennonite Brick Church or Red Brick Church) in Morrison, Illinois.  The memorandum book served primarily as a record of congregational finances.

These records document the work of the committee that offered pastoral support to ministers serving the conference and handled congregational and ministerial difficulties and controversies.  The minutes of the committee will be helpful to researchers seeking specific issues within the congregations of the Indiana-Michigan Conference.  Once the researcher determines the time period in which the issue was handled by the committee, the researcher may then seek more information in the correspondence and data files from that time period.

Other materials of particular interest in the collection include summaries of interviews with retired ministers.  Some interviews are foldered separately from other materials, while other interviews are mixed into the meeting minutes or correspondence and subject files.  Also, among the correspondence and subject files researchers will find the meeting minutes of regional ministers' councils established in 1970.

Correspondence and subject files round out the series.  These include not only committee correspondence and notes about various situations in congregations, but also files from workshops and retreats facilitated.

Files documenting the Indiana-Michigan Conference's suspension of John Howard Yoder's ministerial credentials because of sexual misconduct and the ensuing disciplinary process. Researchers will find twelve folders of materials authored by conference administrators, the Indiana-Michigan Conference Church Life Commission, John Howard Yoder's accountability and support group, and John Howard Yoder himself. Documents include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and follow-up documentation provided by the conference in 2013 and 2014.
