Alternative Service in Russia and Canada

This series consists of correspondence related to reunions of men who were in the forestry service in Russia, as well as the Alternative service rendered by conscientious objectors (C.O.'s) in Canada. There are 196 slides pertaining to Forstei workers in Russia and the Alternative Service of C.O.'s in Canada with an accompanying sound recording. There is also a manuscript written by a young American Mennonite soldier of World War I.

Asov Forestry service camp band

This photo shows 16 men with their musical instruments and a conductor with his baton. The band consists of 2 clarinet players, 7 cornet players, 4 baritone horn players, 1 trombone player, 1 tuba player and a percussionist (bass drum, cymbal, triangle). Of the 7 cornet players several are B flat horns and others are likely E flat horns.
