Holdeman

This series was probably intended as a collection of items produced and received by and from the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, as well as items about this church group that traced its beginnings in Manitoba to a split away from the Kleine Gemeinde in 1881. However, there is only published item about the experience of Johann F. Toews (1858-1931) in this collection.

Diaries

This series consists primarily of Silas Hertzler's diaries, which contain detailed entries about his daily activities. Silas's diaries span the years 1904 to 1974, with a gap only for one year (1911). Silas Hertzler kept separate diaries of trips and other special events, and a number of these may be found in this series as well. By contrast, this series contains only one diary kept by Anna Weaver Hertzler, for the year 1962. Researchers should note that this series contains Silas Hertzler's diaries during his period of service with Near East Relief under the American Friends Service Committee (1919-1920).

Amish Christian Church Materials

A hodgepodge of materials related to Lores’ exploration of the Amish Christian Church, including correspondence with its members, church materials, genealogies, and other materials.

Governing Documents

Constitutions and by-laws of the Mennonite Nurses' Association, as well as records pertaining to the creation and revision of the core documents of governance.

Publications

This series includes copies of The Christian Nurse, the journal of the Mennonite Nurses' Association. The Christian Nurse, originally published under the title Mennonursing, was for many years an independent publication. In 1958, it was subsumed under Mennonite Hospitals and Homes , and in 1960, under Mennonite Health and Welfare Horizons. In 1963, it returned as an independent publication, only to again be subsumed by Mennonite Medical Messenger in 1970. The Christian Nurse is now published as part of the Mennonite Health Journal. The archives does not have a complete set of the Christian Nurse. Researchers should consult the Mennonite Historical Library for missing issues. Other materials in this series include the association newsletter, brochures, administrative records pertaining to The Christian Nurse, and editorial correspondence and collected stories used in the 1991 book, The Gift of Presence: Stories that Celebrate Nurses Serving in the Name of Christ, edited by Beth Landis.

Membership Records

This series consists of lists of members, membership applications, member card files kept by the organzation to track their membership, and surveys conducted among members and Mennonite congregations.  There is, most likely, a good deal of duplication of information among these records. Also in this series are officer lists and information about elections.

Miscellaneous Materials

Includes records pertaining to annual conferences, the alumni association, and relationships with other Mennonite agencies.  It also includes tracts, transcripts of presentations and speeches, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

Art

This series includes original and photocopied sketches, paintings, and drawings by Friesen, photographs and designs for banners, and correspondence regarding his art work for the Mennonite Church. Most notable are a series of nine oversize evangelism posters created while Friesen worked in India.
