William Wickey Papers

A small set of personal papers, primarily correspondence, documenting ministry, congregational life, and conflicts a northern Michigan congregations of the (old) Mennonite Church. Other materials in the collection include correspondence, reports, and programs of the Michigan Mennonite Ministers' Fellowship (1955-1970), minutes of the Indiana-Michigan Conference Area Ministers' Council #2 (Northern Lower Michigan) (1967-1977), and correspondence and interviews concerning a conflict in the Coldsprings Mennonite Church (Mancelona, Mich.) in 1973.

Wickey,who was ordained a pastor at South Colon Mennonite Church in 1956, appears to have served at the Maple River Mennonite Church (Brutus, Mich.) from the early 1960s through the late 1970s.

Handwritten and typed sermon texts and outlines written by a bivocational Mennonite minister in Nebraska.  The sermons are organized by topics, which include:  Bible Study, Christian Life and Church, Communion, Ordinances / Prayer Veil / Non-resistance, Parables, Regeneration / Heaven, Sanctification / Fellowship, the Seven Churches of Revelation, and Sin / Hell.

This collection contains primarily outgoing correspondence from William G. Detweiler regarding his pastoral, evangelical, and personal activites.  Perhaps the most interesting document in the collection is a sermon log (1931-1956) containing information on churches preached in and texts or subjects referenced.  Within the correspondence are his resignation letters from the Canton Mennonite Mission, letters to Calvary Hour listeners and congregation members regarding salvation and morality, a letter from Anna to the "home folks," and a few "Baby letters" written to the newest members of congregations and their parents.  Also in the collection are bulletins and flyers regarding Mennonite Sunday school conferences and programs.

These personal papers consist primarily of diaries kept by a minister, bishop, and school administrator of the (old) Mennonite Church in Kansas.  Erb's began keeping a diary at age 14 and continued the practice almost continuously until his death 50 years later.  Erb's diary entries are usually brief and discuss the weather, work, social gatherings, and events of note, such as the 1912 accident in which he was burned and one of his daughters was killed.  Other materials in these papers include scattered correspondence, materials pertaining to his pastoral work, and a 1991 paper about T. M. Erb.

A small set of personal papers created by  Mennonite urban missionary and pastor who served primarily in Chicago, Toronto, and Blair, Ontario,   The marriage register is particularly interesting because it records the marriages he performed at the Chicago Home Mission.  His diary covers the years 1938 to 1941 and provides brief entries about daily activities and weather.

This small set of personal papers from a pastor affiliated with the (old) Mennonite Church consists primarily of sermons, some of which were delivered at the Mennonite Home Mission in Chicago, Ill., where Yoder served after his ordination in 1939. Other sermons were written for congregational minsitry at the two churches he served: Congerville Mennonite Church (Congerville, Ill.) and Pleasant Oaks Mennonite Church (Middlebury, Ind.) The papers also include information about the history of the Pleasant Oaks congregation in the early 1960s, when it sold its church building. This collection also includes a number of family photographs and a handful of photographs from the Mennonite Home Mission, as well as two audiotapes of Yoder delivering sermons. Photographs mostly date from 1870 through 1930.

Papers of a Mennonite women who began her career as a secretary in Mennonite organizations and transitioned into ministry in the 1970s and 1980s.  Fisher served on the pastoral team of College Mennonite Church (Goshen, Ind.) and as an overseer of Waterford Mennonite Church (Goshen, Ind.).  Her papers include correspondence, sermons and presentations, worship materials, photographs, audiotapes of sermons preached at College Mennonite Church, and miscellaneous materials.
